On having lost a bit of Sunshine

In doing some blog maintenance, I, like several bloggers will, have had to adjust my blog roll after the deletion of one of my favorite blogs, The Woman and the Dragon.

I don't know the circumstances around the decision to delete the blog and will not speculate. However, I will miss Sunshine Mary's blog and am very grateful for all the time, thought, and wisdom she put into it. I appreciate all of the real life issues she brought to light and the thought provoking commentary and discussions that followed.

Titus 2 women are hard to come by and should be treasured when we do have the opportunity to sit at their feet to learn. I know this was what SSM often referred to:
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. - Titus 2:3-5
So what should we do after saying goodbye? We press on, to honor the principles she stood for. I have long understood we should not follow the man, man will fail you, we should follow the principles of the man when they are good and biblical.

We all have differing reasons we read the blogs we do. Some are eagerly seeking truth and hope for their lives, others read to confirm their convictions, and some read to challenge details. I have heard the testimonies of many who have had their lives bettered in mighty ways thanks to the writings of SSM. I recently commented on one of these testimonies and offered the encouragement for SSM to never grow weary:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3

These verses from Hebrews are my prayer for you, SSM, should you read this. Thank you for all you have given.

We'll miss you.

  1. Very sorry to hear this.

I gave up on SSM's blog a couple of weeks ago when it became clear that trolls had settled in.

  2. My wife and I found her blog to be the best as we are now taking the red pill after 20 years of Christian marriage... It was a blessing for us and spoke to our hearts....

SSM if you read this, you touched our souls in a great way.

  4. I am very sorry to hear that she is no longer blogging. There are few out there teaching true biblical submission and challenging others about it and the lies of feminism. Hopefully, she will be back soon!

  5. I am the anon from the previous thread, I had only recently starting reading SSM's blog and really appreciated it. I did not get into the comments too much, so can't speak to trolls, etc but truly appreciated her sharing and heart and wisdom. I wish her and her family the best.

Also to you SD and RLB, I truly appreciate you sharing all that you have shared and pray that you continue to do so. I have found many of he things you have shared to be encouraging as well as eye opening and sobering but also hope filling.

    Thank you.

  6. There is a silly rumour going around that SSM was a man. There is NO evidence for this. What people couldn't believe was that a modern woman could write well about being a real wife. Which is sad in itself.

  7. I saw that, though I can't remember where. Isn't that something. A woman writing today with the ideology and Christian conviction as one who lived 150 years ago and that is a suspicion. It really says a lot of the sucess feminism has had in calling that which is good, evil and promoting that which is evil as good.

  8. Someone claimed she was a man in a comment at Dark Brightness. The last post from SSM is there. Good Grief, that advice for modern women she quoted to criticise was dreadful.

  9. I feel guilty about it, but SSM's departure from the web has finally inspired me to create my own blog. I'm going to try and re-create some of my arguments and ideas from SSM's blog, and hopefully create a forum for ideas like her blog used to be.

  10. Good luck, donalgraeme. Sincerely. But the most powerful blogs are those run by intelligent married women who take anti-feminist stances. The best blogs have been those run by Alte and SSM and the like. Unfortunately such blogs attract feminist trolls, who become alarmed at their success.

On the positive side, the ideas are getting out there and reactionary feminists are becoming increasingly panicky.

  11. I'm so sorry to see the blog gone. I wish she had left it up and just deactivated it. It's sad to see all of the wisdom---from her posts and the comments---gone forever.

I hope that she's OK and that we'll hear from her again whether on a new blog, or in the comments section of another Christian blog site.

  13. She posted something on Dalrock's blog site. She deleted her blog because someone posted her real name, which was upsetting. She and her husband are thinking about starting a new blog with their real names to prevent this from happening, but she's taking a break for now.

  14. Oooh! Well, I hope her break is restful, and I hope to see her back!

  15. That's one of the reasons I just decided to use my name. I do watch what I say and you probably won't here much about my wife directly, but I decided it was best and to live with any career consequences.

  16. Wow, been extremely busy the last few weeks so I haven't been able to catch up on my favourite blogs. Sorry to hear about SSM. We had our disagreements but she was always willing to see another point of view, which is quite a surprise for me when it came to women in general. I will sincerely miss reading and commenting, even with the trolls who started visiting, and I hope she, her husband and her children, continue from strength to strength.

God Bless and continue the fight!
