There really are people this stupid

The hamster is strong with this one
If we are even going to indicate that it's somehow moral to feed into the idea that women are responsible for men not wanting them if their physical appearance doesn't measure up (and I am not down with that at all), then we should at least do so with some kind of actual evidence.
She wants evidence.

No, seriously, she wants credible evidence that men want women who are physically more appealing than women who aren't.

She wants me to produce evidence that married men are not as attracted to wives who let their physical appearance go.

Evidence that men prefer their wives to not get fat.

Evidence that men prefer their wives to wear their hair the way they like.
Of course, maybe it’s fine to advocate for the position that it’s fine for men to leave their wives for being unattractive. Maybe my view is losing and at least part of the reason divorce has risen so much in our culture is because we've indicated that it's okay for a man to leave a woman because she's unattractive.
She thinks the rise in the divorce rate is because it has been advocated for men to leave their unattractive wives.

This has been great comedy to start my weekend.

  1. If shame doesn't work, why do you get so many comments that try to shame you?

  2. That's different.

It's in the "Thou Shalt Never Offend a Woman Handbook", don't you have one of those?

"Thou shalt never offend or shame a woman unless that woman is offending or shaming other women who we want to remain victims."

    1. Oh damn. I haven't read mine yet. It's right behind my "How to Feminize Men" and "You, Too, Can Have it All" books. Not sure when I'll get to reading them . . .

  5. Thank you Carlotta! How refreshing to read.

'I think the language that men understand and they receive — is through food and through sex.' she says.

    Yep.

  6. This whole last paragraph:

I don't see anything in that article or any of the articles it links to that provide any kind of actual evidence that men in general prefer long hair. I see a few men saying that men generally prefer long hair, but no actual data. If we are even going to indicate that it's somehow moral to feed into the idea that women are responsible for men not wanting them if their physical appearance doesn't measure up (and I am not down with that at all), then we should at least do so with some kind of actual evidence. This, of course, also applies to the "fat is ugly" assertion. How fat? Ugly to whom? Across what cultures? During what time periods? If we don't have the answers to these, we can't say if a preference for a "slim babe" is based on cultural encouragement of this or an actual inborn tendency. If it's based on cultural encouragement, then this isn't really about how women look; it’s about what we say is and is not acceptable in how a woman looks.

Is it possible she even believes this? It can't be. She's just parroting something she learned in a Women's Studies class. No one can be that dumb.

  7. I know. Cultural encouragement? Does someone really need to walk her through the steps of blood rushing to the penis in reaction to visual stimuli?

However, what she's said really brings that whole "born this way" homosexuality into question...doesn't it?

But shhhh about that, we mustn't speak of feminist contradictions. The whole philosophy might crumble upon itself.

    1. My guess is that either she feels terribly unattractive or she just doesn't understand that some things just are a certain way.

Men love women with lovely figures (though their preferences vary when it comes to skinny, athletic, curvy, etc).

Men love women with soft, well styled longer hair (although hair color and texture preferences vary).

      Men love soft skin.

Men love feminine clothing like heels and dresses and skirts.

Men like a woman to wear enough makeup where it enhances her appearance without making her look fake.

While there are some things I can't change like my breast size there are so many improvements I can make without much effort that it would be silly to just let myself go. Plus, it would be disrespectful to my husband since I'm the only woman he can be with.
